Criminal Law Triage: What to do until the Criminal Defense Lawyer Comes
The phone rings. It is a client. The police are at the door or, even worse, your client is already under arrest. YOU receive the one phone call because YOU are the only attorney they know. What do you do? How do you protect your client's rights until a criminal defense lawyer can be retained?
This program will answer these questions. It will give non-criminal defense lawyers the tools to make sure that when that call comes - and it will - they can protect their client, give them the emergency advice they need, and start the process to the client's advantage. The panel, two experienced criminal defense lawyers and one prosecutor, will give nuts and bolts advice that every practitioner can and will use.
Moderator: Evan Slavitt, Bodoff & Slavitt LLP
Panelists:
- Peter E. Gelhaar, Donnelly, Conroy & Gelhaar, LLP
- Peter Krupp, Lurie & Krupp, LLP
- James O'Brien, Assestant Attorney General
